Asheron's Call·Private server·Online around the clock

Dereth, with an economy that holds.

A private Asheron's Call world with two currencies you earn by playing — Radiance from kills, Resonance from quests — a bank shared across your account, and house rules that stop one person quietly playing as six. No sign-up, nothing to install beyond the game: point your client at the server and it makes your account the first time you connect.

Joining

Get a client

You need a Windows PC and an Asheron's Call client. Ask Tom about the client before you go hunting for one — he'll point you at the right setup, including the launcher that keeps this server's data files separate from any other server you play.

Point it at the server

In a launcher (AeshLauncher, ThwargLauncher or similar), add a server with the address and port above. Launching the game directly is a command line:

acclient.exe -h 144.217.84.148:9020 -a YOURNAME -v YOURPASSWORD -rodat off

Roll a character

The first login with a new name and password creates that account. You'll land on an empty character screen — make one and you're in.

Every session after that: just launch the game. Nobody to text, nothing to start first.

Not stock Asheron's Call

What's different here

The changes you'll actually notice, each with the command that goes with it. The full command reference is kept in step with the server.

Two currencies, earned by playing

Radiance is experience's mirror: every point of experience you earn — kills, quests, your share of a fellowship's — lands as a point of Radiance too, and it keeps coming at the level cap where experience stops. It's what skill mastery costs. Resonance is 10 per quest completed, repeatables included. Neither is an item you carry: both go straight into your account's balance.

A shared bank

One vault for the whole account: Radiance and Resonance, plus pyreals, luminance and keys you deposit from your pack. Every character you own draws on the same balance, so there's no shuffling between them.

Skill mastery

Skills keep going past the retail cap, priced in Radiance along the retail curve — the first point costs ten times what rank 209 would have, and each one after is 1.0787× the last, the same climb you already know with more weight on it. One raise is one whole point. +10 in a skill is about a quarter of a climb to 275; +21 is a whole one; +50 is nine and a half. Mastery survives enlightenment — the part of a character that accumulates for good.

Level cap 500

Levelling continues well past retail on the retail curve, with an extra skill credit every 25 levels beyond 275.

Enlightenment, on our terms

Reset at 275, +1 each time, uncapped. You keep your society, your auras and your unspent experience. Done through the NPC.

Personal dungeons

Walk into the Egg Orchard and you get your own private copy — nobody else's spawns, nobody else's competition. Each enlightenment makes the monsters in your copy 5% tougher and the kills 5% more rewarding, set when you enter. Every character gets their own, so it's solo by design. Dying inside costs no items and no coins.

Quest bonus

Every quest you complete raises a standing experience bonus that applies from then on. The world is worth exploring twice.

Every portal is open

Portal level requirements are gone — no minimums, no maximums. Go where you like; whether you survive there is another matter. Housing is untouched.

Reworked fellowship sharing

Experience splits across a fellowship on a different curve from retail, so bringing friends along isn't a tax on the one doing the work.

Know what you earn

Radiance, Resonance and luminance over the last 5, 10, 30 and 60 minutes, the session total and an hourly rate — for working out whether a given dungeon is worth your evening. Kills and quests only; what other players send you doesn't count.

Changes to Dereth

Experience comes in at half the retail rate everywhere — the level cap is 500 and enlightenment is meant to be repeated, so the climb is the game and the shortcuts around it are the first things to go. Every change to the world is dated and explained on its own page, and posted to #patch-notes-content in Discord the moment it goes live.

Enforced by the server itself

House rules

Currency that's earned by playing only means something if one person can't quietly play as six. These limits are counted per internet connection, not per account, and the server applies them on its own — so they're worth knowing before you bump into one and think something's broken.

Share a house with another player? Tell Tom and he can lift the limits for your address.

Two characters online at once

Make as many characters and accounts as you like — there's no cap on either. Only two can be logged in at the same time. A third login drops the newest, saved properly on the way out.

One of them outside the Marketplace

The second can come along, but it stays in the Marketplace. Walk it out and it's sent straight back. Whichever character leaves first is the one that stays out.

Three accounts per connection

Enough for a household sharing a router; not enough to run a farm.

No swearing allegiance to yourself

Passing your own experience up through a second character of your own isn't allowed.

Chat

Heard in Discord too

General and Trade are relayed to the Aeshnidae Discord, so an offer is seen by people who aren't logged in. Only those two channels — tells, allegiance and fellowship chat stay in the game. The bridge is one-way: Discord reads the game, but nothing typed there reaches it.

Admin accountability

The admins are audited too

An economy built on earned currency only holds if nobody can quietly mint it. So the server audits its own admins, not just its players.

  • Every admin action that could create value is recorded — items created or deleted, objects given to players, bank balances adjusted, and any grant of experience or luminance.
  • Records go to an append-only log and are posted live to a Discord channel as they happen, so they can't be edited after the fact.
  • Admins are exempt from the two-character limit and nothing else. Every audit applies to them exactly as it does to you.

Before you message Tom

If something goes wrong

The game can't find the server

Check the address and port are exactly 144.217.84.148 and 9020. A stale entry from the old setup is the usual culprit — the server used to be on a 100.x address and that one is dead. If the numbers are right, open a command prompt and run ping 144.217.84.148. A reply means the server is reachable and the problem is in your client's settings.

Ping replies but the game still won't join

The server process may be down or restarting for an update. Give it two minutes, then message Tom — there's nothing to fix on your end.

It rejected my login right after I logged out

Normal. The server holds your session open for about a minute after you disconnect. Wait sixty seconds and try again.

My character got teleported to the Marketplace

Working as intended — you already have another character outside it. Log that one out and this one is free to leave.

I got logged out when my third character came on

Also intended. Two at a time. The newest login is the one dropped, and the character is saved on the way out — nothing is lost.

It won't create my new account

Three accounts per connection is the limit. Log in with one you already have, or ask Tom if you have a real reason for a fourth.

I mistyped my password and made a second account

Easily done, since any new username creates an account. Log in again with the spelling you meant — but the stray one counts toward your three, so ask Tom to clear it.
